(recycle) Take Back Bag

Feel good about saying goodbye.

85% of used clothing ends up in the trash.*
Consumption is at an all-time high. Most of us have more used clothing than we know what to do with—and unfortunately, so do most donation centers, resale platforms, and clothing reuse programs. So our pre-loved items end up in landfills or shipped overseas. It’s a real problem.

The (Recycle) Take Back Bag makes recycling uncomplicated. Feel good about saying goodbye with the (Recycle) Take Back Bag. Pack up and say goodbye
to any pieces that no longer
serve you— we'll make sure
it’s responsibly recycled.
You send it, we sort it
Your (Recycle) Take Back Bag goes straight to Trashie’s facility right here in North America, where each item is graded by quality, category, seasonality, and material. It might sound complicated, but it’s a highly efficient process to maximize the value and recyclability of every item.

Because Transparency is Chic

Pre-loved items that can still be worn are simply reused—it’s the lowest impact way to maximize the value of the original piece. Similar items (like warm winter coats, for example) are grouped together and sent to the destinations that need them most.

If, for whatever reason, an item can’t be reused, we’ll still make sure it has another life. Our downcycling partners turn used clothing into rags, carpet padding, pet bed filling, and other products. Some items, like those made of 100% cotton, polyester, or cashmere, are sent to fiber-to-fiber recycling to be re-spun into new fabrics. Currently, this tech is pretty limited, but our partners are working with the best in the business to make fiber-to-fiber recycling more efficient.

Recycling your items should be just as easy and effortless as shopping for them. And our partners at Trashie agree. Each week, they process 100,000 pounds of clothing and textiles—which comes out to over 5 million pounds a year. Together, we can make an impact to keep clothing out of our landfills and back in our closets, where it belongs.
